Bio

Jeannie has worked in the field of education since 1990. She began her career as a K-12 teacher in Ontario and realized her calling to adult education after engaging in the teaching and learning process with an adult student who overcame significant barriers to achieve a high school diploma. Jeannie then moved to BC in 1993 and secured a teaching position at Vancouver Island University, where she actively pursues her passion for teaching and learning with adult students and colleagues. She believes that having a basic education is critical, as education enables people to fully participate in all aspects of living in and being members of society. Jeannie continues to focus on ensuring that educational opportunities remain available and accessible for all adult learners, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status.
